'GOAT': Vijay's film heads to Rs 400 cr mark

'GOAT', starring Vijay, had an impressive start with over Rs 288 crore earned in its first weekend. Although it slowed down during weekdays, it surged again in Tamil Nadu, grossing around Rs 15 crore on Sunday. Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the film is expected to surpass the 400 crore mark shortly.

' GOAT ' featuring Vijay in the lead role was released on September 5, and the highly-anticipated film had a remarkable opening. 'GOAT' earned over Rs 288 crore from the four-day first weekend, and the makers officially confirmed the film's box office collection . But the film slowed down during the weekdays.

However, the action entertainer peaked right during the second weekend, and the film performed extraordinarily in Tamil Nadu. According to Cinetrak, 'GOAT' grossed around Rs 15 crore in Tamil Nadu on Sunday and it's back-to-back double-digit days for Vijay's film in the home state. The total collection of 'GOAT' in Tamil Nadu is estimated to be around Rs 190 crore, and the film is anticipated to breach the 200 crore mark in another few days.



Overall, 'GOAT' grossed over Rs 390 crore in 11 days, and the film is soon to zoom past the 400 crore. 'GOAT' will be the second film of Vijay after 'Leo' to surpass the 400 crore mark, and he will be the only Kollywood actor to have two consecutive 400 crore films. The official numbers are expected to be unveiled soon by the makers and they will mute questions over the film's box office collection.

Directed by Venkat Prabhu , 'GOAT' also has Sneha, Prashanth, Prabhu Deva, Ajmal, Jayaram, Mohan, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Laila, Premgi Amaren, and Vaibhav in crucial roles alongside Vijay in a dual role as father and son.
