The father of billionaire Elon was brought on to be interviewed by presenters Susanna Reid and Ed Balls. He was asked about his son's views on UK politics after Elon had criticised Keir Starmer and several figures within the Labour government. Safeguarding Minister Jess Phillips rejected Oldham Council's request for a government-led inquiry into historical child sexual exploitation in the town, in favour of a locally-led investigation last week.
'He’s not strong enough to be the leader you need at the moment.' questions Errol Musk on whether he has spoken to his son Elon about the breakdown of his relationship with the Reform UK leader Nigel Farage. Elon then accused Prime Minister Keir Starmer and other senior politicians of covering up the scandal.
Particular criticism was aimed at Starmer as he ran the Crown Prosecution Service between 2008 and 2013 Since then, Starmer has accused opposition MPs of "jumping on a bandwagon" and "amplifying what the far-right is saying" to gain attention over the subject of grooming gangs. Alongside that Elon had called for Nigel Farage to step down as leader of Reform UK, after the politician distanced himself from Musk's support of Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, also known as Tommy Robinson. The far-right activist was jailed for 18 months for contempt of court in October after he admitted repeating false and defamatory claims against a Syrian refugee.
Errol had previously said he felt Robinson had a good chance of becoming Prime Minister in the UK and said that he was a better person than former South African President Nelson Mandela in the GMB interview. Alongside that, Errol backed his son's views, saying that Farage wasn't "strong enough" to be leader of Reform UK right now. Good Morning Britain viewers react to Errol Musk interview The Errol Musk interview drew a lot of ire from GMB viewers, with some questioning what the point of having him on was.
One person posted on X (formerly known as Twitter): "#gmb such a terrible interview, letting Musk senior spread misinformation and lies with hardly any push back or correction". Another wrote: "So disappointed in @GMB for this - a very poor editorial decision - and presenters far too gentle in rebuking some of the ridiculous claims made in that interview". A third described the interview as "pointless" while another said they should not be giving Errol the "oxygen of publicity".
Many viewers were baffled, as one wrote: "Am I living on Mars or something? British politics has got zero to do with Elon. It's got a billion time less anything to do with his dad!!! Why is he even getting airtime?" Similar sentiments were shared by others, as one posted: "He cannot even speak in coherent sentences. Shame on you for giving him publicity.
" Another joked: "What on earth had it to do with his Father? I suppose you’ll have his cleaner on tomorrow?".
