A GLOBAL event is set to return to a major Scottish city this summer after 30 years. The harbour in the heart of the city is set to be transformed into a "forest of masts". A total of 44 ships have now confirmed their attendance for the races which will be held between Saturday, July 19 until Tuesday, July 22. Race registration is open until May 1.

Among the ever-growing list of vessels taking part are 17 magnificent Class A Tall Ships. The Tall Ships Races 2025 will take the fleet through the French cities of Le Havre and Dunkirk, Aberdeen, Kristiansand in Norway, and Esbjerg in Denmark.

Vanessa Mori, Deputy CEO of Sail Training International, said: "All the host ports will offer incredible experiences for the fleet, but six months out, it’s clear that many will converge in Aberdeen.

Adrian Watson, chief executive of Aberdeen Inspired, said: "All sea lanes lead to Aberdeen as this spectacular fleet of Tall Ships heads for the Granite City. "I cannot wait to see the harbour become a forest of masts in what will be the largest gathering of these beautiful vessels taking part in this year’s Tall Ships Races.
