The week before, the hard-running 5-foot-8, 200-pound team captain gained 141 yards and a season-best three touchdowns on 11 attempts in a 42-0 quarterfinal win over Amsterdam. His season high is 181 yards on 17 carries in a 44-20 triumph over Bethlehem, with his other outings during the streak covering 167, 158 and 103 yards. Gload also plays linebacker for a defense that has limited its last four opponents to 13 points or less and shut out Mohonasen to begin the eight-game win streak.

Burnt Hills (8-2) will meet Averill Park (7-3) in the Class A championship game Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at Shenendehowa.

The main difference between Shaker and Shenendehowa in their Class AA semifinal Friday — won by Shaker 28-21 — was that the Blue Bison got tangible contributions from many, while Shenendehowa’s tangible contributions were from senior running back/defensive back Ihsaan Alozie. For Shaker, running back Dallas Mutziger had 11 carries for 90 yards and a touchdown. Back Nick Graziano and quarterback Marcus Snipes Jr.

combined for another 20 carries for 81 yards and two scores. Snipes also was 7 of 12 passing with one interception, 153 yards and a touchdown. PETER R.

BARBER Shenendehowa's Isaiah Alozie is wrapped up by Shaker's Melvin Brown Friday, November 8, 2024. Alozie rushed 21 times for 154 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught two passes for 34 yards and scored a defensive touchdown on a 40-yard interception return.

Alozie, a fourth-team Class AA all-state back last season, will join the U.S. Naval Academy in the summer.

Shenendehowa coach Brian Clawson was happy with how his team played in the back-and-forth contest. “Our players, when they’re faced with adversity, always find a way to fight back, and they kept on coming back,” he said. “It was like we were playing catch-up all game, and that’s hard to do.

...

Hats off to Shaker, we wish them the best of luck next week.” Schuylerville senior Landen Cumm was the Black Horses’ x-factor Friday night against Fonda-Fultonville, rushing for four first-half touchdowns en route to a 49-14 win in the Section 2 Class C semifinals. Cumm scored on Schuylerville’s first play from scrimmage, taking a run 58 yards to the endzone to put his team up 7-0 less than two minutes into the game.

He totaled 181 yards on 16 carries through the first two quarters, finishing Friday with 226 yards on 22 rushes after a decreased workload in the second half. Cumm’s team had rushing touchdowns on its first five possessions, with quarterback Ollie Bolduc scoring from 24 yards out nearly seven minutes into the opening quarter. Schuylerville improved to 9-1 with the win and will face Cobleskill-Richmondville in the Class C title game.

Fonda-Fultonville ends its season 7-3 with the loss one year after finishing as the state’s runner-up in the classification. When Cambridge/Salem beat Stillwater 21-13 in a Class D semifinal on Saturday, it locked in the final matchup of this year's set of Section 2 Super Bowls. The slate for this coming Friday and Saturday looks like this:.
