GIRLS SWIMMING: Central’s Kayleigh Hood qualifies first in two events

CHEYENNE – Cheyenne Central junior Kayleigh Hood posted the top qualifying time in two events at the Class 4A East Conference girls swimming and diving meet Friday in Gillette.

CHEYENNE – Cheyenne Central junior Kayleigh Hood posted the top qualifying time in two events at the Class 4A East Conference girls swimming and diving meet Friday in Gillette. Hood touched the wall first in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2 minutes, 18.92 seconds.

She also was the top qualifier in the 100 backstroke (1:03.09). Hood joined sophomore Norah Meares, junior Sydney Gough and senior Lindsey Upward on the second-place 400 free relay team (3:57.



96). Hood, freshman Bailey Young, senior Lillie Bailey and sophomore Cate Baker qualified third in the 200 medley relay (2:00.47).

Gough qualified second in the 500 free (5:40.85) and fourth in the 200 free (2:08.83).

She also joined Baker, Upward and Meares on the third-place 200 free relay team (1:50.19). Bailey qualified third in the 200 IM (2:24.
