SPRINGFIELD TOWNSHIP — Upper Dublin remained undefeated in Suburban One League American Conference play with a 12-0 win over Springfield Township on a cold and rainy Monday afternoon at Springfield Township High School. The Cardinals (7-1, 4-0 SOL American) built a 5-0 lead in the first quarter, doubled their advantage to 10-0 at halftime and added two more goals early in the third quarter.Four players did all of the scoring for Upper Dublin.

Sophomore Bridget DiMartile led the way with six goals. Freshman Emily Buckius added a hat trick while senior Anna DiMartile and junior Maeve Hogan each had two goals.“I think this year is really special because everyone on attack has the ability to score,” Hogan said.

“If somebody’s not having a great game, there’s always someone there that can back it up and put the ball in the back of the net. It’s really awesome this year.”“(Buckius) stepped up big-time today and had the three goals,” UD coach Dee Cross said.

“Every game there is someone new that steps up. Bridget and Anna and Maeve – our middies – have definitely been the biggest part of our team. Luckily we have other attack players that can step up when needed.

They just got it going today – the middies – and everyone else was able to feed off that.”Hogan finished the game with four assists. She found Bridget DiMartile twice and Buckius twice.

The two helpers to Buckius came on consecutive goals late in the first quarter.“This game Emily was just on fire,” Hogan said. “She was always open.

She made my job real easy – just get the ball to her.”Upper Dublin’s Emily Buckius looks to pass against Springfield Township Monday, April 7, 2025. (Ed Morlock/MediaNews Group)On the opposite end of the field, Upper Dublin recorded its second shutout of the season after blanking William Tennent, 13-0, on March 26.

Freshman goalie Caroline Stoffel saved all five shots she faced while the defenders in front of her – seniors Abby O’Meara, Olivia Broome and Sophia Sirianni and freshman Liv Coffee – limited the scoring opportunities for Springfield Township (4-4, 2-1 SOL American).“The four of them,” Cross said, “I felt like every time someone made a move to goal, they slid and they even said they were so connected today. (O’Meara, Broome and Sirianni have) worked so well together for three years it’s almost automatic.

Every game is different, but I really feel like the four of them just really held it together today on defense. When one knocked the ball down, another one picked it up and that’s what we work on – reading the situation and always helping your teammate.”“I think we slid really well today,” Hogan, a midfielder that impacts the defensive end, added.

“We recognized the girls that were threats scoring and we were really quick to collapse on them and then Caroline played really well will a couple good saves.”Upper Dublin and Wissahickon (8-0, 5-0 SOL American) are the two remaining undefeated teams in the conference, but don’t face each other for another month. The two sides will meet in the regular season finale on May 7 at Upper Dublin.
