Bengaluru: A class 10 student walking back home from school succumbed to injuries after a wooden log from an under-construction building fell on her head in VV Puram, south Bengaluru, Saturday afternoon. The deceased is S Tejaswini, 15, elder daughter of Sudhakar Rao and Dhanalakshmi from KG Nagar. Rao is a car driver with a private firm, while Dhanalakshmi is a homemaker.

The couple has a 13-year-old son, Dishavanta Rao, a class 8 student. Police said Tejaswini was walking on National High School Road, better known as NHS Road, past National College Metro station around 1.30pm when the log from the sixth floor of the building fell on her head.

Passersby shifted Tejaswini to Nimhans in an autorickshaw. They found the girl's ID card in her school bag and contacted her father, a police officer said. She succumbed to head injuries in Nimhans and her body was shifted to Victoria Hospital for autopsy.

Tejaswini's close relatives said she attended dance classes near her KG Nagar house, and her mother would hope the teenager would become a good dancer in future. "We will book a criminal case of causing death by negligence against the building supervisor and others," the police officer added.
