It’s probably fair to say the Switch 2 reveal didn’t quite go how Nintendo had planned it. While we fully expect the system to be seriously successful, it’s attracted a wave of bad publicity for a variety of reasons, spanning its software prices, Game Key cartridges, and its premium tutorial, Welcome Tour . But the surprise release date reveal of Ghost of Yotei last week provoked a fresh wave of frustration aimed at Nintendo, and specifically its Mario Kart World launch title, which costs an eye-watering $79.
99 in the US. While it was always unlikely Sony would change its pricing strategy this quickly, it revealed that Sucker Punch’s sequel will cost $69.99, as is the norm for flagship PS5 exclusives.
An optional Deluxe Edition bundling in some superfluous DLC will also be available for $79.99. Some feel this further puts into perspective Nintendo’s pricing strategy, as they feel Ghost of Yotei will have cost Sony more money to make than Mario Kart World, due to its cinematic focus and higher quality graphics.
