Chennai: After BJP functionaries raised doubts about the ghee used in preparing Pazhani ‘ Panchamirtham ', HR & CE minister P K Sekarbabu on Saturday clarified that the ghee used for preparing the ‘Panchamirtham' in Murugan Temple was from Aavin . Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Sekarbabu said, "After DMK assumed office, our chief minister M K Stalin issued an order that ghee required for all temples should be procured from Aavin. The order is followed to date.

Only in case of excess requirement, ghee is procured from a private company and there has been no complaint against the private company so far." Sekarbabu said, "BJP functionaries Vinoj P Selvam and Selvakumar had spread rumours on social media about the ‘Panchamirtham' and a police complaint has been filed against them. The ‘Panchamirtham' prepared in Palani Murugan temple undergoes proper safety checks and is given without compromising its quality.

" Following reports about the usage of animal fat in Tirupati laddu, TN BJP youth wing president Vinoj P Selvam and a couple of other party functionaries raised doubts about the quality of ghee used in ‘Panchamirtham' in Palani Murugan temple. They said the same company that supplied ghee to Tirupati also supplied for Palani Murugan temple. Vinoj said on X, "The fact that A R Foods which is supplying ghee to Tirupati Lord Venkateswara Temple is also supplying for Palani Murugan Temple and the company's (chairman) Rajasekar being a member of Palani Murugan Temple's executive committee raises doubts.

Tamil Nadu govt should immediately dismiss him and should ensure that ghee is procured only from Aavin." The Palani Murugan Temple management, in a statement, said the ‘Panchamirtham' manufactured in the temple is tested by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on a periodical basis and there was no adulteration. The management asked devotees not to believe in rumours spread against the temple management.
