Ghajini director A.R. Murugadoss shares why Kalpana died without knowing about Sanjay Singhania’s identity

Aamir Khan and Asin’s film, Ghajini released in 2008. The film became a huge hit in terms of box office and even in terms of storyline. People loved the story and even appreciated the performances in the film.

The movie was directed by A.R. Murugadoss.



However, one twist in the film left everyone shocked. Asin played the role of Kalpana who was in love with Sanjay Singhania. Aamir Khan played the role of Sanjay.

It was a sweet love story but we saw that Kalpana had no idea about Sanjay’s real identity and her death was the most shocking thing. Kalpana passed away without knowing the real identity of her lover. Fans were confused with this and felt that Kalpana should have known the truth.

Now, director A.R. Murugadoss, who is currently in the news for his film, Sikandar has opened up about Ghajini.

He has shared the reason why that happened with Kalpana and Sanjay. He spoke to IANS and said that when he was writing the script he did get the question about how would Kalpana react if she gets to know Sanjay’s real identity. He felt that if he reveals this and changes the script, then it will water down the impact of the revenge that Sanjay harbours for Ghajini.

He explained that in the film Kalpana gives money to Sanjay before she is killed by Ghajini and this touches Sanjay’s heart. The director used Kalpana’s innocence as a device to further the sentiments of the audience. He also went on to explain that Sanjay had so much to tell to Kalpana about himself but he couldn’t do so as she died and he also suffered a short term memory loss.

The director added that two things fuel his passion for revenge, and make it real. He concluded saying, “If Kalpana got to know about the true identity of Aamir’s character, we wouldn’t be discussing this scene, it’s been 16 years since the film released, and yet everyone talks about it, as a writer and director I see that as a job well done.” A.

R. Murugadoss directorial Sikandar released yesterday. The film stars Salman Khan and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead roles.
