Getafe are in advanced negotiations to sign Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq on loan from Real Sociedad. This move aims to bolster their struggling attack as they fight to avoid relegation from La Liga. Since Borja Mayoral’s injury in October, Getafe have lacked a reliable goalscorer.

With no clear return date for the former Real Madrid player, the club is actively seeking a replacement to spearhead their survival bid. Meanwhile, Sadiq is seeking a fresh start after struggling to establish himself at Sociedad. The Nigerian international, who returned from an ACL injury, has failed to recapture his previous form.

Spanish media reports suggest an official announcement of Sadiq’s loan move to Getafe could be imminent, potentially as early as the transfer window opens. Sadiq has yet to score in 11 appearances for Imanol Alguacil’s side this season. He hopes to regain his confidence and rediscover his scoring touch at a club where he would be the primary striker.

Getafe, currently 17th in the league and just one point above the relegation zone, desperately need a goalscoring threat. They have the league’s lowest goal tally with only 11 goals in 18 games. Sadiq joined Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022 for a €20 million transfer fee.
