
DRUMROLL PLEASE Mark your calendar for Jeff Glidden’s 5th annual Drumming Up Wishes concert at Funky Bow Brewing in Lyman on May 4. The event benefits the non-profit Make-A-Wish Maine and their mission to create life-changing experiences for children with critical illnesses. This year’s theme is “Sisters in the Name of Love,” featuring Maine bands led by female singers.
Performances will be from Bonnie Edwards and the Practical Cats, Ruby Dame and the Easy Monday Band, and Julia Gagnon and the Time Pilots. Drumming Up Wishes was founded by South Portland-based drummer Jeff Glidden. Glidden became involved with Make-A-Wish Maine after his two daughters were granted wishes.

It’s the lakeside amphitheater at the Snow Pond Center for the Arts. Taj Mahal and Keb’ Mo’ won a Best Contemporary Blues Album Grammy for their 2017 collaborative album “TajMo.” Singer-songwriter and guitarist Abraham Alexander opens the show.

For more than 35 years, audiences have been swept up in the story of love, vengeance, and dark humor.
Baritone Michael Mayes is in the title role, and the show also features bass-baritone David Pittsinger as Judge Turpin and soprano Mela Dailey as Mrs. Lovett. Musical numbers include “No Place Like London,” “The Worst Pies in London” and “God, That’s Good.
