Tomahawk Steakhouse is opening a new housing estate takeaway - featuring steak, shawarma, and smash burgers to go.

The popular chain will be launching its latest venture today (Wednesday, April 2) at 11am in the former Southern China takeaway at Lowfields Shops. The new site has been months in the making, with works going on over the last few weeks to transform the interior and add Tomahawk touches to the outside. To celebrate the opening, one lucky guest has the chance to win a Tomahawk gold card, allowing them to grab a free meal every month.

The new takeaway will incorporate some of the chain's most popular food items, including steak and fries to go and a "unique" kebab, plus some dessert options from cakes to milkshakes. Tomahawk also previously confirmed to The Northern Echo that Sunday dinners were on the menu , with a full selection of meats available for lunch to go.

While collection will be available from opening, the venue said delivery will be coming soon for those who want to enjoy Tomahawk in the comfort of their own home, although a date remains unknown at this time. Read More: Get more from The Northern Echo with a digital subscription. Click here .

As previously reported, the takeaway was first teased when signs were erected on roundabouts across Ingleby Barwick in December, sparking excitement from residents. Tomahawk already has a number of sites in the area - including in Yarm, Acklam, and Potto - but this marked the chain’s first venture onto the housing estate. Tomahawk added new branding to the unit last month, including a large logo printed on the brick and other artwork placed on the windows.
