It is international “break” season yet again and with it, a reminder for Bayern Munich and Germany that this portion of the schedule can be very taxing on players’ fitness levels. After all, it is two extra games in the span of just a few days, in the middle of one of the most crowded fixture periods of the year. And both club and national teams want to field their best teams — and win.
“Some of the players are carrying knocks. The boys have three weeks in a row with mid-week games under their belts, so we have to take that into account,” Germany head coach Julian Nagelsmann said this week ahead of two upcoming Nations League matches (as captured by @iMiaSanMia ). “We need to find a balance between the ambitions of the national team and the justified demands of the clubs.
We are in dialogue regarding that.” Germany plays Bosnia and Herzegovina on Saturday in Freiburg and travels to face Hungary on Tuesday to conclude is Nations League group stage tour.
