on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2025 in a local hospice facility. Jerry was born on July 3, 1959, in Lake Charles, where he spent his entire life and developed a love for baseball as a young boy.



Jerry was a proud graduate of Lake Charles High School and went on to further his education at McNeese State University, where he earned a degree in mechanical engineering in 1981. After completing his studies, Jerry began his career with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, where he dedicated many years in the air quality division before retiring. A man of solid morals and upstanding values, Jerry cherished his family above all else.

He loved spending time with them, making countless memories, and always offering a helping hand. Jerry was also passionate about traveling, often seeking out new experiences and adventures during his spare time. He was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly and Earl Quarles Jr.

, and aunts, Gladys Fortsch, Josephine Schapker (Henry), Margie Quarles, Velma Trahan, and Joyce Estelle. Those left to cherish his memory are his brother, Michael Timothy “Tim” Quarles; stepmother, JoEllen Quarles; stepsisters, Desiree LeBlanc (Mike), Dana Cradeur and Dina Cuccio (Nick); aunts and uncles, Gerald R. Quarles (Patti), Lloyd Quarles (Dehlias), Ronald Quarles, Rosemary Smith, Virginia Panunto (Paul), Wanda Green (Percy), and Walden Montie (Janice), and numerous cousins.

A funeral mass will be held at 12 p.m. on Monday, Feb.

3, 2025 at St. Margaret Catholic Church. Father Nathan Long will officiate.

Burial will follow in Consolata Cemetery under the direction of Johnson Funeral Home. Visitation will begin on Sunday from 5 p.m.

until 8 p.m. with a rosary being recited at 6 p.

m. Visitation will continue on Monday from 10 a.m.
