In Tbilisi,Georgia, President Salome Zourabichvili exercised her civic duty bycasting her vote at a polling station situated within the premisesof the 67th school, Trend reports. “I cast my vote for the new Georgia, a vision I embraced when Iarrived in this country 22 years ago and for which my forebearsfervently hoped.

Victory is inevitable, and Georgia will emergetriumphant,” she said. To note, polling stations in Georgia commenced at 08:00 localtime and will conclude at 20:00. A total of 3,508,294 people can vote, including 95,910 abroad.



For these legislative elections, 3,111 voting stations were set up,including a record 67 abroad. Georgians abroad can vote in 53cities in 42 countries. A total of 64 international and 102 local organizations will bekeeping a close eye on the voting process.

This year, a proportional system based on party lists willexclusively elect members of parliament. To win seats inparliament, parties must win at least five percent of the vote. All in all, there are 18 parties in the race, with five of themjoining forces to form coalitions.

The parliamentary elections will also introduce the electronicvoting system for the first time. Thanks to modern technology, morethan 90 percent of ballots are expected to be counted and theresults published within an hour after the polls close.
