Area deaths FULLERTON — Genevieve Angeline Koziol, 94, of Fullerton, Nebraska, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, September 13, 2024, at Valley View Assisted Living in Fullerton. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m.

Friday, September 20, 2024, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fullerton with the Rev. William L'Heureux officiating.



Burial of ashes will follow in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Fullerton. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.

m. Thursday, September 19, 2024, St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fullerton, with a 7 p.

m. rosary service. Genevieve was born on March 21, 1930, to Leo and Clara (Bosak) Egnoske in Fullerton.

She spent her childhood on the family farm near Belgrade and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1948. After high school, she worked at Clara's Café in Fullerton before she moved to Omaha, where she worked as a secretary for Mutual of Omaha. On September 18, 1950, she married Benny Koziol at St.

Peter's Catholic Church in Fullerton, where they made their home. Over the years, Genevieve held various positions, including roles at Fullerton Memorial Hospital, the local nursing home in Fullerton, the Veterans Home in Grand Island, and Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home in Grand Island. In 1987, the couple relocated to Grand Island, where she lived until 2018, when she moved back to Fullerton.

She was a lifetime member of the Fullerton American Legion Auxiliary, Wall Street Extension Club, St. Peter's Catholic Church in Fullerton, St. Ann's Altar Society, and St.

Leo's Catholic Church, while she lived in Grand Island. For many years, she also volunteered at the Nebraska State Fair. Her love of travel took her to places around the world, including Spain, Israel, Italy, Mexico, and Hawaii.

In addition to traveling, she enjoyed crocheting, playing cards, and was an avid reader of Reader's Digest. Known for her social nature, she always cherished time spent visiting senior centers in every community she called home. She is survived by her children, Fred (Kathy) Koziol and Kevin (Jenny) Koziol, both of Fullerton, and Jane (Mark) Booth and Rebecca (Troy) Jensen, both of Lincoln; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Clifford (Paula) Egnoske of Grand Island; and a sister-in-law, Delores Egnoske of Omaha.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Benny; a son, Mark Koziol; a grandson, Ian Bergantzel; a brother, Virgil Egnoske; and a sister, Emily (Dan) Gist. Get local news delivered to your inbox!.
