Robert Palmer Watkins is stepping into an exciting new role beyond Port Charles, according to recent reports. He played Dillon Quartermaine from 2015 to 2017, becoming a fan favorite before his character was written off. Since then, Robert has continued in his acting career, taking on various roles in both television and film over the years.
Now the 36-year-old actor has much to look forward to as he is set to join Lea Salonga (known for her roles in Mulan, Aladdin, Miss Saigon) in the new live-action adventure flick The Vale - Origins, according to Deadline. This film acts as a prequel to Abigail Hing Wen's upcoming novel of the same title, set to be released on September 16, 2025. The short film follows the grieving Lee family in Silicon Valley, finding healing through their son's creativity in The Vale, a virtual reality world, and will be produced by Tracy Chitupatham and author Wen.
Back in 2017, the star was blindsided with the news that he was being axed from General Hospital while on a scheduled break filming another project. He called the news "brutal" and was completely caught off guard. "I was shooting a movie, so I was taking a couple-week break from 'General Hospital' to shoot the last three days, and I actually found out that they were releasing me from contract while I was on my lunch break," he told Soaps.
"So that was pretty brutal, and I was trying to hold it together." Before his exit, Dillon was involved in a romantic relationship with Kiki Jerome and had dramatic storylines within the Quartermaine clan. Following his exit from the popular soap, Robert has appeared in shows and movies including Trapped Inn, Mistaken Lovers and Uglies.
The film star previously opened up about his career since leaving the iconic soap, revealing that he's now able to take on more diverse roles. Speaking to Soap Hub while promoting Trapped Inn last year, he admitted: “I love playing villains or troublemakers because there’s room to inject some sarcasm and humor into those roles, which I enjoy. I think I drop into those characters naturally—whether that’s a good thing or not, I don’t know! Adding: “But playing Dillon Quartermaine on GH was also great.
He was usually the good guy, the hero standing up for people. I loved when the writers gave him edgier moments.” Click here to follow the Mirror US on Google News to stay up to date with all the latest news, sport and entertainment stories.
