GC Biopharma announced on September 23 that its influenza vaccine 'GCFLU' has secured 100% of the bid volume for Thailand's national vaccination program from the Government Pharmaceutical Organization (GPO), a state-owned pharmaceutical company under the Thai government, for the second year in a row. Since entering the Thai flu vaccine market in 2014, GC Biopharma has achieved a milestone by securing the entire bid volume of 4.07 million doses in this latest bidding process, bringing the total cumulative order volume to over 10 million doses.
GCFLU is exported to 63 countries worldwide, including Thailand, and continues to expand its export markets and volumes, establishing itself as a leading domestic flu vaccine. The company noted that strong support from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, including vaccination export assistance and expedited national shipment approval timelines since last year, has facilitated active overseas export contract signings. This is especially important for influenza vaccines, as they are seasonal products with predetermined vaccination periods requiring timely response capabilities.
Lee Woo-jin, head of GC Biopharma's Global Business Division, stated, "GCFLU, recognized for its proven efficacy in the international procurement market over many years, is also achieving great results in public markets of individual countries. We will continue to solidify the position of high-quality domestic vaccines in international markets." Meanwhile, GC Biopharma is the largest supplier of seasonal flu vaccines to international organizations under the WHO, with cumulative production of flu vaccines exceeding 300 million doses last year.
One dose is sufficient for a single adult vaccination, meaning that approximately 300 million people worldwide have been vaccinated with GC Biopharma's flu vaccine..
