Patrick Christys and Emily Carver are expecting their first child together. At the end of his Friday (April 11) evening's show, GB News featured its regular Union Jackass and Greatest Briton segment which sees the panel nominate a star as Greatest Briton. But in a surprising twist, Patrick, 33, opted to nominate his wife.
"I was going to ask for your pick for Greatest Briton Emily but then I thought I would nominate my own”, Patrick said. "And I would like to nominate you, Emily Carver, my wonderful wife. And I think you might know why.
” Emily responded: "Well, we are a family here at GB News. I feel like a lot of our viewers and a lot of our audience members feel that way too, so we've got a little motion picture to show you." Appearing on screen was a video of Emily receiving an ultrasound in hospital, confirming that she is pregnant.
The live studio audience erupted into applause as the presenter confessed some people had already worked it out. "There were some annoyingly eagle-eyed people out there who seemed to know immediately”, Emily said. "19-weeks-old, so hopefully it will be a September baby.
" "Someone asked if is it twins. That was the first thing I checked," Patrick quipped, adding: "Touch wood, it’s not twins. "He then turned to the panel, consisting of fellow GB News presenter Miriam Cates and Labour MP Barry Gardiner, to ask for parenting advice.
"Try and enjoy every stage. Every stage is different and challenging in different ways," Miriam responded. "You have just got to try and enjoy every stage.
Get lots of help - don’t refuse any help in those first few weeks." The couple, who tied the knot last year, were flooded with congratulatory messages as the announcement was shared on the official GB News X page. "Absolutely wonderful congratulations.
.. How exciting," gushed one fan as another penned: "Love this!!! Congratulations!!" A third echoed: "Awwww amazing.
You’ll make the best parents. Huge congratulations." A few hours later, Emily shared: "Lovely news to announce this evening! Thanks for all the supportive messages.
