Gayle King has let it be known she’s “very disappointed” with critics of her recent flight to space and back.On Monday (14 April), the all-female crew of the latest Blue Origin flight, which also included Katy Perry, left the ground for a total of 11 minutes. Also on board was Jeff Bezos’ fiancé, Lauren Sanchez, who led the team.

They were joined by former NASA rocket scientist, Aisha Bowe, activist Amanda Nguyen, and film producer Kerianne Flynn. But the flight has come in for criticism, with some people questioning why the women, most of whom don’t have any space-related credentials, had to go to space without a scientific objective. Many argued that the mission simply served as promo for Bezos’ Blue Origin space tourism ambitions.

Speaking to CBS Mornings, as per Entertainment Tonight, on Tuesday (15 April) King, hit back at criticism. “Space is not an either or, it’s a both and. And because you do something in space doesn’t mean you’re taking anything away from Earth,” she said.

“And what you’re doing in space is trying to make things better here on Earth.” @entertainmenttonight Gayle King is "disappointed" and "saddened" by the backlash she received after being a part of Blue Origin's all-female spaceflight. #blueorigin #spaceflight ♬ original sound – Entertainment Tonight In trying to further explain what she meant by that, King added: “What Blue Origin wants to do is take the waste here and figure out a way to put it in space to make our planet cleaner.

” She went on to say, “I’m very disappointed and very saddened” by the criticism she and others have come under. King also insisted the flight has inspired people imploring: “Please don’t ignore that.” She told People on Monday (14 April) that “anybody that’s criticizing it doesn’t really understand what is happening here.

” Well, she has certainly cleared some things up for us! Actress Olivia Munn went viral recently for critiquing the space flight. On Today with Jenna & Friends at the beginning of the month she asked: “What’s the point?” adding, “Space exploration was to further our knowledge and to help mankind. What are they gonna do up there that has made it better for us down here?”Since Monday many people have taken to the internet to share their feelings on the flight.

Olivia Wilde, echoed Munn’s comments while Emily Ratajkowski said on TikTok: “Look at the state of the world, and think about how many resources went into putting these women into space, and for what?”The post Gayle King hits back at space flight critics: ‘I’m very disappointed’ appeared first on PinkNews | Latest lesbian, gay, bi and trans news | LGBTQ+ news..
