The show is based around the 47-year-old's Welsh character Stacey's long-distance relationship with Essex boy Gavin (Mathew Horne) with the focus shifting to Nessa (Ruth Jones) and Smithy's (James Corden) blossoming romance. After last appearing on our screens five years ago with a one-off festive special, Gavin and Stacey is returning for a final send-off, with Joanna admitting she 'can see why' its ending.

She told the Radio Times: 'I would love to come back every year, but I genuinely don't think there will ever be any more and I can really see why.' On Monday, the BBC unveiled the first look pictures of Gavin and Stacey: The Finale and eagled-eyed fans were on the lookout for any indication Smithy said yes to Nessa's proposal after the cliffhanger in 2019. However, the broacaster was one step ahead and in pictures of Nessa, including one of her dancing jubilantly with Stacey with a bottle of red wine in hand, they had blurred her fingers to obscure if she was wearing a ring or not.
