Gatehouse Bank colleagues have raised over £21,000 for Bone Cancer Research Trust , the Bank’s Charity of the Year for 2024. Every year, colleagues at Gatehouse Bank are encouraged to nominate and vote for a charity they would like to support in the upcoming year. In January 2024, it was announced that Bone Cancer Research Trust had received the most votes.

The Bone Cancer Research Trust aims to improve outcomes for those impacted by primary bone cancer by funding research, raising awareness and providing support. According to the charity’s strategy for 2022 – 2032 , the ultimate aim is to develop more effective treatments for primary bone cancer patients by 2033. Throughout the year, Gatehouse Bank colleagues organised a range of fundraising activities in aid of Bone Cancer Research Trust, including charity walks and runs, a sponsored hike up Mount Snowdown and a 560 metres daily swim challenge.

The Bank also launched a new initiative, Gatehouse Giving Week, which aimed to boost donations. As part of this, three colleagues took part in a 10,000-foot tandem skydive and members of Gatehouse’s Executive team cycled a combined total of 560km on stationary bikes to represent the 560 people diagnosed with bone cancer each year. The money raised by Gatehouse Bank will contribute to the charity’s lifesaving research and awareness raising efforts while also helping to fund the charity’s Support and Information service.

Through this, they will be able to continue to support patients and families when they need it most through the sharing of information, grants and emotional support. Charles Haresnape, CEO of Gatehouse Bank, commented: “I am incredibly proud to see the fantastic results of our colleagues’ fundraising efforts over the last year. The funds raised are going to contribute to the important work undertaken by the Bone Cancer Research Trust and we hope that the money we’ve raised can make a difference in supporting future research and providing support to those affected by primary bone cancer.

” Liz Sweeney, Community Manager at Gatehouse Bank, added: “I am incredibly proud of our colleagues for surpassing our target and raising £21,000 for the Bone Cancer Research Trust. Our colleagues have shown bravery, dedication and teamwork by taking on challenges including skydiving, runs and treks and it has been a pleasure to witness these throughout the year! Thanks to them, the Bone Cancer Research Trust will be able to support more people facing bone cancer, a cause that is close to our colleagues’ hearts and their efforts will truly make a difference.” Xanthe Hopkinson, Regional Relationship Manager at the Bone Cancer Research Trust, said: “On behalf of everyone here at the Bone Cancer Research Trust, we would like to express our deepest thanks to Gatehouse Bank for their incredible support throughout 2024.

The phenomenal amount raised by the team, coupled with the company’s dedication to raising awareness will help us ensure that more bone cancer patients are able to survive and thrive beyond their diagnosis.”.
