Garmin Pay is now available in Malaysia for users to perform contactless payment via compatible smartwatches. The company announced that Public Bank Visa and Mastercard credit or debit cardholders can link their cards to the Garmin Pay wallet app on their mobile phones. They can then access Garmin Pay on the watch, enter a passcode, select a card and hold their wrist to a card reader to perform payments.
Garmin Malaysia country manager Jimmy Chuang said he is excited for Malaysians to "experience the ease of contactless payment through Garmin wearables" where compatible models include the Vivoactive 5 Series priced at RM999, Forerunner 165 Series priced at RM1,290 and Marq Adventurer (Gen 2) - Damascus Steel Edition for RM16,180. A full list of compatible devices is available online . The company claimed that users’ information is secured through advanced safety measures, including watch-specific card numbers and transaction codes for every purchase.
It added that user card details are not stored on Garmin devices or servers..
