Gardeners' World star Adam Frost has opened up about being diagnosed with depression and burnout during a recent appearance on BBC's Morning Live. The expert, who regularly appears on the morning programme, spoke with Gethin Jones and Michelle Ackerly about his recent tour, where he chats about being diagnosed with COVID-19, which led to depression and burnout. When speaking about his recent tour, Adam shared his surprise about how many people have shown up.
He explained: "I'm surprised anybody turns up and listens to me talk for two hours, you know? "Actually, it's people's reaction, it's been fascinating. It's been about life, people, plants, places, music, and how I use all of that to create a garden, you know? And it's been lovely. "It's sort of messed up my sleeping pattern.
In the mornings. I'm not very good at the moment, I am normally really good. But coming off a stage late and then going back to a hotel room, I am really wired.
" Gethin pointed out: "Actually, one of the reactions you've had is a really positive reaction to talking about things like mental health." "Yes," Adam nodded in agreement as he replied: "Because ultimately, the show more or less starts with me being locked in a room with coronavirus > COVID for 10 days. "The wheels coming off my life, you know, being diagnosed with depression and burnout.
" "The show's not like that," the TV star laughed before adding: "But in reality, when you talk about this stuff, and you're a fella of a certain age, the amount of men that have contacted me afterward and gone, 'Frosty, thanks for just doing that or saying that,' I am getting a bit goosebumpy now. "I think the fact that we're on the screen, we've got that voice, we talk about those things, and it does help people." This isn't the first time that Adam has been open about his health.
During a previous appearance on Morning Live, the gardener revealed he had been suffering from Fibromyalgia for two decades. This long-term condition leads to pain and sensitivity throughout the body's muscles and soft tissues. Adam shared: "For most of my life, I've considered myself pretty fit and healthy, regularly playing sports and, of course, spending lots of time in the garden.
" He detailed his initial symptoms, saying: "But around 20 years ago, I started to experience some unusual symptoms. I started to experience these very odd pains. They started in my neck, back, and shoulders, like this throbbing, and that then just moved through the rest of my body.
" "On top of that, I wasn't sleeping very well. I'd go to work and come home, exhausted. For almost two years, I was sent from pillar to post as doctors struggled to identify what was causing me to be so unwell.
" Morning Live is available to watch on BBC iPlayer..
