The Beacon Garden, designed by Matt Evans, pays tribute to Lighthouse Poole's work in promoting creative industries. Mr Evans, who is a Lighthouse development ambassador, said: "It's a coastal garden that, like Lighthouse, is different every day. "And, like Lighthouse, it has been designed to promote and provide a nurturing platform for creative arts and culture to be showcased and thrive.

" The garden will be on display at the fair in May and Mr Evans hopes it will inspire visitors to learn more about Lighthouse. Members of the Poole Leisure Painters, who meet at Lighthouse, will be working in the garden, painting their surroundings and interacting with visitors. Sue Lloyd, Lighthouse's head of development and partnerships, said: "Lighthouse is extremely grateful to Matt and the Garden Room Living & Landscape Studio for their support.

"The Leisure Painters are only a snapshot of the groups who interact with us over and above our artistic programme and we look forward to seeing their interpretations." The garden, sponsored by Elliotts Builders Merchant, will offer a preview of the outdoor extension to Lighthouse's Beacon Café, which Mr Evans will help plan and construct. The fair runs from Friday, May 2 to Sunday, May 4.
