FIVE communities in the Gao-Bugotu Constituency in Isabel Province are the proud recipients of assistances donated by the People’s Republic of China through its Embassy in Honiara. The assistances, which include two sets of computers for Kalenga Community High School, Fishing Nets for Poro, Tatamba and Lau communities and solar lights for Katoka Community, were handed over by the PRC Ambassador Cai Weiming to a delegation from the recipient communities at the Chinese Embassy on Tuesday. Speaking on behalf of the delegation of recipients, Secretary of Gao-Bugotu Constituency Development Committee, Lyndon Bako acknowledged the government of people of PRC through the Chinese Embassy in Honiara for the great help.
The MP for Gao-Bugotu is the Minister for Environment, Climate Change, Disaster Management and Meteorology, Trevor Mahaga. “I feel humbled to receive these valuable gifts on behalf of our Honorable Member of Parliament who is currently abroad on an official trip. “These assistances further cement and strengthen our constituency relationship with PRC.
“Our people will be the end users of the equipment which will enhance sustainable livelihood in our communities. I believe and hope the recipients will greatly and sincerely appreciate your great help.” Mr Bako underscored that the Gao-Bugotu Constituency is one of the least developed constituencies in Solomon Islands which rely very much on marine resources and the donated fishing nets will support their rural fishers.
He said his delegation, on behalf of the MP for Gao-Bugotu and beneficiaries of the assistances, sincerely acknowledges the great help provided by the PRC through the Chinese Embassy. Mr Bako said the people of Gao-Bugotu Constituency continue to pledge their support to the government and people of PRC and their bilateral partnership with the government and people of Solomon Islands..
