Gang attacks man at church fest, one held

Chennai: A youngster was stabbed by a five-member gang over a verbal duel during ther Velankanni church festival celebrations at Besant Nagar on Thursday. Police, who identified the injured man as Hariharan, 20, of Ernavur near Ennore, admitted him to Govt Royapettah Hospital and after a thorough probe arrested Manoj, a 19-year-old resident of Tondiarpet, in tbhis connection. Police said Hariharan and Manoj had a previous enmity.

After Manoj came to know of Hariharan’s visit to the Velankanni church, he informed his friends. They attacked him brutally and escaped in full public view. Hariharan was first rushed to a private hospital in Adyar before being shifted to govt Royapettah hospital.



After arresting Manoj. police officers also launched a hunt for the others suspects who fled the scene.
