Myagdi, April 7: Eight projects ofworth Rs 215.4 million are being implemented in the current fiscal year2081/082 BS in the districts of Gandaki Province under the Ministry of Energy,Water Resources and Irrigation. The projects are implemented to controlriver inundation and for the protection of human settlements on the banks ofMyagdi and Kaligandaki rivers.
Officials shared that theMinistry's Irrigation and Water Resources Management Project Office, Kaski, isimplementing the projects while some others are on the process for contractbidding. Project Chief Bidur Shrestha statedthat gabion walls were constructed to protect settlements from the Kaligandakiand Myagdi rivers in Beni, Singja, Tatopani, Kushma Municipality and JaljalaRural Municipality in Myagdi and Parbat districts. Project Engineer Narjung Gurungsaid that a gabion wall is being developed on the bank of Myagdi river atTatopani in Beni Municipality-4 and next one at Darbar in Malika RuralMunicipality-6.
Likewise, the gabion walls arebeing constructed at Singha and Surkemlea in Beni-4. The Project is working to reducethe impacts of river inundation in Beni and its surroundings. (RSS).
