The Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), has recorded 115 first class graduands, while graduating a total of 5,188 to be conferred with their first degree honours during the institution’s 36th Convocation Ceremony scheduled to hold Friday. Out of the total number of graduates, it also recorded 1,987 second class upper, 2,928 second class lower and 158 third class. On higher degree programmes, the institution will honour a total of 632 graduates.

The breakdown shows 128 in PhD; 367 in M.Sc, M.Eng, MPH, M.



Tech, and MBA; and 137 in PGD. The vice chancellor of FUTO, Prof Nnenna Oti, who gave the information to newsmen, also said under her watch the institution had recorded a lot of achievements, such as accreditation of academic programmes by the National Universities Commission (NUC), the Medical and Dental Council of Nugeria (MDCN) as well as the body for International Accreditation of Academic Programmes. Professor Oti further stated that the university had improved in its ranking as it was ranked 14th in Nigeria and was among the Nigerian universities mentioned in the 2024 World University Ranking conducted by Times Higher Education.
