Lee Deacon was diagnosed with sarcoma, a rare form of cancer in 2013 and died at the age of 47 earlier this year. In his memory, Lee’s friends and family embarked on a walk across , visiting his favourite locations to raise money for Sarcoma UK. The group walked 15 miles across Bournemouth and on October 12.

They visited Vitality Stadium, O2 Academy, Moon in the Square and Solent Meads Golf Club to name a few of Lee’s favourite places. A JustGiving page was set up to raise money for Sarcoma UK. The fundraiser has surpassed its £5,000 target with more than 270 supporters.

At the time of publication, £7,070 has been raised for the cancer charity. Lee’s mum, Barbara Deacon said: “Lee absolutely loved Bournemouth and the surrounding area. His favourite place was Mudeford Quay.

“The organisation and thought that went into this wonderful tribute shows how very much Lee was respected and especially loved by everyone that knew him. “Not only did we meet the initial £5000 target, but with money still being paid into JustGiving Sarcoma UK, the amount raised so far is over £7,000.” Donations can be made via a JustGiving titled, A Walk to Remember Lee.
