The Met Office has issued three urgent yellow weather warnings for wind this weekend. Strong gales reaching 70mph are set to batter huge parts of Britain for 38 hours in the lead-up to Christmas . Two yellow alerts for wind will be in force between 7am and 11.
59pm on Saturday, December 21, while a third will run between midnight and 9pm on Sunday, December 22. Winds are expected to be so strong that the gusts will disrupt transport and create 'dangerous' conditions near coastal regions. The Met Office said: "Increasingly windy through the weekend with gale force winds in the north with some wintry showers.

People cope better with power cuts when they have prepared for them in advance. "It’s easy to do; consider gathering torches and batteries, a mobile phone power pack and other essential items. If you are on the coast, stay safe during stormy weather by being aware of large waves.
