Full list of road closures and roadworks across the North East for week beginning April 7

There are a number of road closures in place across the North East this week that motorists might want to be aware of. Some roads are closed while others have lane closures. Temporary traffic measures or diversion routes may also be in place on roads across the region.

Drivers are urged to plan ahead for these closures and alter their travel arrangements if necessary. Temporary traffic lights due to roadworks on A186 City Road in both directions near Horatio Street. Expect delays. Until May 24.

Dunstanburgh Road at St Anthonys closed due to roadworks from Grasmere Avenue to Monkchester Road, Walker. Until July 1. No through traffic allowed due to roadworks on Lombard Street in both directions at B1600 Quayside.

Between 8pm and 6am Mondays to Sundays until July 2028. Traffic taking turns due to gas main work on Brinkburn Close in both directions at Brinkburn Street. Until April 18.

Traffic taking turns due to gas main work on Lancing Court near Yeadon Court. Until May 15. Lane closed due to roadworks on North Walbottle Road in both directions between Queensbury Drive, Walbottle and Nuneaton Way, North Walbottle.

Until 4pm on May 5. Narrow lanes and speed restriction of 50mph due to major widening works on A1 Western Bypass Westbound from J65, Birtley to J67, Coalhouse Roundabout. Expect delays.

Work to create an extra lane in each direction. Until May 31. A167 Gateshead Highway in both directions closed due to long-term roadworks between the B1426 and A184 Park Lane.

Until September 30. Advance Warning - A19 Northbound closed due to roadworks during the night from A183 Chester Road to A1231 Sunderland Highway. From 8pm on the 7th to 6am on April 8.
