Fujitsu plans to move its network products unit, covering photonics and mobile systems, into a wholly owned subsidiary called 1Finity to streamline operations.The company will establish the entity on 1 July, with the aim of consolidating its network-related operations to strengthen the business, while streamlining management responsibility and decision-making to support global expansion.All functions, including the development, manufacture, sales and implementation support of network hardware, optical transmission equipment, open RAN-compliant 5G base station equipment, related software and 6G research will be integrated into 1Finity.

Staff in Fujitsu Network Solutions’ telecoms carrier business also will move to the new unit.The move will see Fujitsu Telecom Networks, Fujitsu Network Service Engineering, Mobile Techno and Fujitsu Network Communications transferred to 1Finity.With a foundation in Japan and North America, Fujitsu stated the subsidiary plans to move into the European and Asian markets by building partnerships to expand sales networks and break into customer segments such as cloud infrastructure.
