The Terras frontman was speaking to the club's media team in the aftermath of the 4-0 win over Slough Town last weekend. The victory means that the club has now picked up eight points in their last six games, putting them tenth in the form table, and have won twice in their last three matches. Linton himself has also been in good form in recent weeks having now scored six times in his last eight matches.
The striker had failed to register a league goal in his previous 21 appearances, with his only other National League South goal coming on the opening day against Tonbridge Angels. Linton's goal against Slough, alongside another impressive display leading the line earned him the player of the match award - but the striker was left with a feeling of what if after improved performances seme to have come too little too late to save the club from relegation. He said: "I enjoy the appreciation, especially when any player could have won the award.
"As for the game, this performance shows how good we can be, but it's frustrating that we didn't start playing like this sooner." Relegation could well become reality this weekend when the club travels to Eastbourne Borough. Defeat in east Sussex and anything but defeat for Enfield in their tie with Hemel Hempstead will result in the Terras relegation with four games of the campaign left.
