From Rs 20,000 in 1882, Maha Kumbh cost in 2025 soars to Rs 7.5k crore

Prayagraj is preparing to host the largest-ever Maha Kumbh with an expenditure of Rs 7,500 crore and an anticipated 40 crore devotees. Historical records show significant growth in the event's scale, from 8 lakh devotees in 1882 to millions more in recent years, highlighting its importance and continued relevance.

Rajiv Mani, senior correspondent at The Times of India, Allahabad, writes on higher education in the city. The institutions covered by him include Allahabad University and its 11 constituent colleges, and Allahabad Medical College.
