Although Christmas is approaching quickly, Santa will be making one last quick stop in Chehalis this Sunday, Dec. 22, from 10 a.m.
to 4 p.m. to take photos with local children with the late Chehalis Mayor Pro Tem Daryl Lund’s fire truck.
Free 8-by-10-inch photo prints will be provided to attendees in honor of Lund. The event is being organized by both The Chronicle and Minuteman Press Chehalis at the Minuteman Press location in the Lewis County Mall — located at 151 NE Hampe Way in Chehalis. A former volunteer firefighter and a 1979 W.
F. West High School graduate who recently turned 63, Lund was a long-serving member on the Chehalis City Council along with being the owner of a Minuteman Press franchise in Chehalis, which opened in late 2023. He also served as a Port of Chehalis commissioner and was known for buying and restoring the historic Chehalis Theater.
He also owned the cinema at Yard Birds. He died earlier this month after being diagnosed with septic shock, but on the same day Lund passed away, a vintage Chehalis Fire Department fire engine he saved and restored was featured in Chehalis’ 74th annual Santa Parade in his honor. He had restored the fire engine with the intent of using it in events such as the Santa Parade.

According to an obituary submitted to The Chronicle, a public visitation for Lund will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.
m. Dec. 26, at Sticklin Funeral Chapel.
All are invited to watch a procession through downtown Chehalis Dec. 27. Departure is expected from Sticklin Funeral Chapel at 10 a.
