Soldiers and veterans can travel on some buses free this weekend as Sussex pauses to mark Remembrance Sunday. Serving military personnel, veterans and cadets will be able to use Stagecoach buses free of charge across November 10 and 11. Buses will be adorned with poppy graphics as a show of respect for the Armed Forces.
Stagecoach will also donate nearly £4,000 to this year’s Poppy Appeal. Marc Reddy, managing director for Stagecoach South, said: “We are incredibly proud to employ hundreds of veterans and it’s a privilege to honour the bravery and dedication of our Armed Forces, cadets and veterans by offering free travel during Remembrance weekend. “This initiative underscores our commitment to supporting those who serve or have served our country, along with the families and communities who support them.
” Sussex residents will take time to pause at Remembrance events this weekend and on Monday, November 11. Events in Brighton’s Old Steine, Hove, Worthing and across the county will commemorate those who died in the First and Second World Wars as well as other global conflicts.
