BalkansCat Franklin Resources ( NYSE: BEN ), still about 40% owned by the founding Johnson family and managed by third-generation heiress Jenny Johnson, is a conventional investment manager trying to keep up with the times. Despite its legacy and the ~$1.7 trillion of assets it has built Analyst’s Disclosure: I/we have no stock, option or similar derivative position in any of the companies mentioned, and no plans to initiate any such positions within the next 72 hours.
