Frank Lampard insists he has a good first impression of Coventry City’s squad but is keen to “find out” the reasons why the team are where they are in the division. The Sky Blues have shown some really promising signs in the first few months of the season but inconsistency has seen the club languishing at the wrong end of the Championship table. Lampard started his homework on the players and the team’s form a couple of weeks ago when he first applied for the position of head coach, taking a watching brief for the Sheffield United draw and Burnley defeat – both games having been televised on Sky Sports.

And Burnley was a very tough match away from home where it can happen where you go away and lose, so there are things I can pick up from both of those games in their own way that can help me coming in and trying to hopefully affect it quickly.”.
