Francis Amartey joins Weymouth after Ayr United exit

WEYMOUTH have secured forward Francis Amartey for the 2024/25 season, subject to international clearance.

Weymouth have been able to agree a deal for Amartey after Ayr United refused their contractual option to extend by one year the London-born attacker’s stay. Amartey, 25, was released alongside former Terras’ forward Ahkeem Rose having played in the Scottish Championship where he scored once and registered two assists. Amartey joins after working with current Terras boss Mark Molesley at Aldershot in the National League, playing eight times for the Shots.

Amartey scored for Farnborough in an FA Cup first round giant-killing of Sutton back in 2022. He also counts Braintree Town, Hayes & Yeading and Birmingham City Under-21s among a catalogue of former clubs.



Amartey also has history against Weymouth, seeing red in the 1-1 draw with Slough back in the 2019/2020 season. In a statement, the Terras said Amartey is “known for his strength on and off the ball”. “The young attacking player brings with him experience at a variety of levels within the game,” Weymouth explained.
