Frances Mendes OBITUARY Frances “Peggy” Mendes, 95, of Manchester, CT, widow of beloved husband Manuel “Jody” Mendes, passed away peacefully in her home on September 29, 2024. Frances was born Francesca Pennacchio in San Sossio Baronia, Province of Avellino, Italy. At age nine, she immigrated to America where she lived with her mother and sister in Boston, MA.

After marriage, she moved to Wethersfield, CT, where she worked in her home as a highly regarded and dearly loved Day Care “Mother” for 35 years. After retirement, Peggy moved to Manchester, CT, where she enjoyed tending her yard and gardens, playing cards with friends, spending winters in Jensen Beach, FL, and attending ballroom dinner dances at area Elk’s Clubs, where she and Jody were members. Peggy is survived by her daughter Karen Mendes and spouse Michael Moyer, daughter-in-law Karen Ann Mendes and grandson Ryan Mendes, numerous nieces and nephews, and many close friends.



Peggy was predeceased by her husband Jody Mendes, her son Steven “Dok” Mendes, and her sister Patricia (Pennacchio) Torra. Memorial Services will be held at D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd, Wethersfield, CT on Saturday, October 19, 2024. Gathering and Visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:30 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life Tribute at 11:30 AM.
