A true artist's vision lies in not his skills but in what he sees and imagines beyond his art. In our very first conversation, Shashikant Patade mentioned how paintings should not just remain a piece of art hanging on walls in empty spaces but they should be a medium that transport you to an entire different arena, even if it is for a while. It should be your escape, a space of contentment and a story that reminds you of something or someone.
Well, Shashikant's paintings speak volumes. They take your mind on a little tour where you can't help but become a part of the painting. For instance, I was observing one of his paintings where a tribal woman was walking out of a forest where one of her hand was holding a stack of cut woods on her head while holding her little son's hand with the other.
The painting shows multiple rays of sunshine piercing themselves through wide and heavy spread of canopies and this moment could literally be felt. Rays of sunshine touching your skin in a bare, green forest..

They let them take its natural course and grow infinitly.
This place is called the 'Devrai'. just like pieces of puzzle. I had a picture of exactly which colour would look vibrant and depict the story I wish to convey. After the painting was done, I applied a solution on it to make sure the colour does not wear off," said Shashikant.
