Fox News aired an “unprecedented” blow to US president Donald Trump – going against its usual stance as a Republican-leaning network to admit that the latest tariffs are a blow to the economy. When the US stock markets opened for the first time since Trump announced global “retaliatory” tariffs , a breaking news strap on the channel announced: “Now: Stocks fall at open amid tariff concerns”. Anchor Maria Bartiromo was on hand to give her own analysis of the news, showing a live readout of the Dow Jones Index which at the time was down 3.
44%. She explained to viewers: “It is going to have an effect on Main Street, some things will become higher price. We will see some products actually being raised in price because companies will pass on the cost of tariffs to consumers.
