Four from city lose 25L in separate online frauds

Pune: In separate cases, four people from Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad collectively lost over Rs 25 lakh to online share trading and task frauds between Nov last year and March. Separate cases were registered with the Nigdi, Vishrantwadi, Parvati and Vishrambaug police stations. A 25-year-old resident of Shukrawar Peth lost Rs 4.

82 lakh to the cyber crooks between March 3 and 11. The crooks took money from him under guise of prepaid tasks and duped him. The victim registered a complaint with the Vishrambaug police on Thursday.



In another case, a 39-year-old software engineer from Lohegaon lost Rs 12.50 lakh to the cybercrooks in an online share trading fraud between Dec last year and Jan this year. In his complaint with the Vishrantwadi police, he said the crooks offered 200 percent profit on his investments in the shares and 500 percent profit in the IPOs.

They made him open an app for trading, took money from him in different bank accounts and duped him. The techie filed a complaint application with the cybercrime police. After preliminary investigations, a case was registered with the Vishrantwadi police on Thursday.

Similarly, around the same period, a 53-year-old teacher from a private college was duped of Rs 3.85 lakh by the cybercrooks after the teacher was lured on a 10 percent profit on his investments promise. He, however, never got the money back.

The victim lodged a complaint with the Parvati police on Thursday. Cybercrooks lured a 48-year-old resident of Nigdi to invest and earn handsome returns via them. He transferred Rs 4.
