Gale force winds are expected to hit Suffolk as we head into the weekend. The Met Office has said that from midnight on Thursday, low pressure will take hold - bringing with it gusts of up to 45mph for parts of the county. The Suffolk coast will bear the brunt of the winds, with areas such as Lowestoft, Felixstowe and Southwold to be worst hit.
The winds will remain strong through Thursday and into Friday morning before a brief respite at around midday, dropping to around average. Come Saturday morning, the speed will pick up with it peaking at about midday. According to the Met Office forecasts, gusts will peak at 45mph in Lowestoft and Southwold and Aldeburgh.
Some inland areas including Sudbury, Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich could also see wind speeds of up to 44mph on Thursday evening. It comes after parts of Suffolk were battered by torrential downpours late last month which caused roads across the county to flood..
