While a number of high-profile signings, including South Cairns' premiership players Tyler Roos and Liam McCarthy were not at the first session, which will not be unusual for a host of clubs as players look to relocate, the Roos were buzzing with 42 on the track.
"Things keep going up and up, the boys coming back and obviously 'Crezza's (Cresswell) got his connections everywhere and adding people," senior player and stalwart Joe Hansen said. For the first time in three years, the Roos are returning to a 'normal' off-season. At the end of 2022, the club battled for numbers and were forced to sit out 2023.
The club announced in October, 2023, it would return to the competition and brought together players from numerous competitions in order to form a largely new side. This time, the Roos have re-signed a host of players, along with a number of newcomers which is adding to the excitement. "For sure, the guys are pretty pumped about the year coming up, we can't wait to get stuck into it, now we get to training and do all the hard work," Hansen added.
