Former Oklahoma Sooner turned Dallas Cowboy wide receiver CeeDee Lamb has ascended into one of the best wide receivers in the NFL over the last two seasons. The Cowboys offense has run through him since his rookie season with three straight 1,000-yard seasons, and Lamb is on pace to make it four. Against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night, Lamb became part of NFL history, joining some of the greatest players of all time in a key stat.
CeeDee Lamb just surpassed 6,000 career scrimmage yards. He is the 10th receiver in NFL history to reach the mark in his first 73 career games. Lamb is the sixth Cowboys receiver to achieve the feat, joining Michael Irvin, Tony Hill, Drew Pearson, Dez Bryant and Bob Hayes.
Lamb became the 10th receiver to break 6,000 yards from scrimmage in his first 73 games but is the only Cowboy to do it in that time frame. He joined Julio Jones, Odell Beckham Jr., Jerry Rice, Don Maynard, Randy Moss, Torry Holt, A.
J. Green, Michael Thomas, and Anquan Boldin. Amazingly, Lamb is already seventh all-time in Cowboys history in receiving yards and receptions and is 10th in touchdown receptions.
He's also sixth in team history in total yards from scrimmage. He's in just his fifth season with the team. If Lamb crosses the 1,000-yard mark receiving this season, he would be just the second Cowboy all ever to record over 1,000 receiving yards in four straight seasons, joining Michael Irvin.
It's no surprise to see Lamb be so productive in the pros. He was arguably Oklahoma's greatest wide receiver of all time, beating out some truly elite names for that honor. Lamb finished third all-time in Sooners' history in receiving yards and second all-time in touchdown receptions while finishing sixth in career receptions in Oklahoma history.
If Lamb had consistent quarterback play in his final season with the Sooners, he likely breaks Sterling Shepard's mark to finish second in receiving yards for Oklahoma. Lamb became the fifth wide receiver in Oklahoma history to be drafted in the first round, joining Eddie Hinton (1969), Billy Brooks (1976), Mark Clayton (2005), and Marquise "Hollywood" Brown (2019).
