The Los Angeles Rams traded Ernest Jones to the Tennessee Titans for a pair of 2026 late-round picks. Tennesse then flipped the linebacker to the Seattle Seahawks for Jerome Baker and a 2025 fourth-round draft pick. Jones himself was shocked by both moves.

“Yesterday after meetings, they brought me into the room. GM [Ran Carthon] told me that I was getting traded to Seattle. For me being traded twice, was a little shocker at first, but honestly, I’m thankful for the opportunity that God has given me.

” Jones’s Message To The Rams: It’s good to finally be on the other side, be on the good side And Jones doesn’t have much nice to say about his former teams. Of the Titans, the former 3rd rounder took a shot at the team’s culture and current place toward the bottom of the league’s standings. “I’m getting to come to an organization that one wants to win and loves to win.

They got the pieces right now to win. So I’m excited to just add my talents to that.” And the Rams weren’t spared as an object of Jones’s ire.

“Funny story, I was talking to [Coach Mike Macdonald] earlier, and being in L.A. a lot of those guys don’t like the 49ers,” Jones said.

“That’s their big rivalry. For me, it’s every time we play Seattle. That was my rivalry, but it’s good to finally be on the other side, be on the good side, so I’m excited.

” The Rams play the Seahawks on Sunday, November 3rd. Jones had been a defensive Swiss army knife for the Rams, doing any and everything asked of him. He was thrust into a starting position midway through his rookie season, only then asked to take a back seat after the Rams added Bobby Wagner in 2022.

In 2023 Jones was named team captain and was given the duty of defensive play caller on an extremely inexperienced defense. Not only that, but when the Rams pass rush fell flat Jones moved into a new role as a blitzer last season. In his first two seasons, he was used as a blitzer just 33 times in 32 games.

In 2023 alone he blitzed 58 times in 15 games. Turns out, Jones is good as a pass rusher too. He led all linebackers in quarterback pressures with 37 and came in fourth with six sacks.

He also finished the season with 51 STOPs, a PFF stat that tracks tackles that constitute a “failure” for the offense. That was best on the 2023 team. Jones also missed just two tackles while playing 934 snaps, one of the best rates among all defenders.

Since his trade the Rams have played Christian Rozeboom, Troy Reeder and Omar Speights, who is now starting with Reeder added to the injured reserve. Rozeboom is PFF’s third-worst graded inside linebacker and Reeder the 14th. This article first appeared on LAFB Network and was syndicated with permission.
