"Sure, we're gonna sell beer, and we're gonna have adult beverages. But it's also a great place for the kids to come and enjoy great food and watch football or NASCAR or whatever it is they enjoy." The taproom at 128 Argus Lane in Mooresville is the third location of the restaurant.

The other two are in Concord and Bristol, Tennessee. The two-time Daytona 500 winner said expanding to Mooresville was a natural choice. The location at 128 Argus Lane in Mooresville is the third location of the restaurant.

"The growth on (N.C. Highway) 150, the amount of folks that are moving to Iredell County and Mooresville specifically.

I think it's just a perfect opportunity to take advantage of what I've done for 30 years racing in NASCAR and being able to use our name to hopefully get people to say, maybe I'll give Michael's beer a try. "And so I think Mooresville is a great spot for us and then the 500 Club, that's another great place for us to sell our beer." Waltrip, who lives in Cornelius, said he sees his investment as a chance to stay close to the NASCAR community as he dips his toes in the field of hospitality.

"I want to bring a smile to people's face. I've been blessed that a lot of times people that I don't know from anything will see me and I will see them smile and they'll be like, 'Oh, that's Michael. I like watching him,' and it makes them happy.

And that's a gift that I don't take for granted and it's a blessing to be able to make people happy," Waltrip said.
